This a Science Assessment system that provides an effective means of sub-levelling children’s work in Primary Science. The document, which is presented in both paper and electronic form, provides a quick and easy means of levelling children’s work in all areas of Science from level 1 to 5. The eventual level is based on criteria from the content attainment targets (AT2-4) with the sub-level based on the children’s ability to use and apply science (AT1). The criteria are accompanied by real life examples to make them more accessible to non-specialists.

How was it developed?
The document was written collaboratively by teachers in Clifton and Maltby through their respective Professional Learning Teams, in conjunction with Local Authority Science Consultant and current Headteacher Christine Farmery.

The Assessment system is available as a CD ROM combining both the paper and electronic copies with a selection of levelled examples.
What are the training implications?
The package is designed for use by non-specialist teachers and training requirements are minimal.
