Professional Learning Teams (PLTs)

What is the Activity?
'Professional Learning Teams allow teachers to meet collaborate and share effective practice.'

Training and support is available to establish these cluster based cross-phase, cross-school subject meetings to develop curriculum continuity, identify and deliver CPD and share effective practice.

Professional Learning Teams are the most efficient way of bringing staff together within a group of schools, across a cluster and Authority wide. Co-ordinators with similar areas of responsibility meet on a half-termly basis to share expertise and resources, plan collaborative events and solve common problems. Larger scale tasks can also be undertaken collaboratively to effectively share workload and inspiration, while sharing the resulting finished product, an example being the Science Assessment System developed collaboratively by Clifton and Maltby PLT's

Who is it for?
PLT’s are for all teachers across the phases. Initial training and consultations may be more appropriately focused on Senior Leaders at Cluster Level.

The ICT PLT discuss amendments to the ICT assessment document

How was it developed?
The system was developed in the Clifton Partnership over the seven years of its existence. PLT’s are an integral part of the Zone and the way it functions and have produced outstanding results in terms of initiatives and collaborative relationships across the schools. The current system is the result of an ongoing review process and is based upon 7 years of continued improvement and success.

What resources are available?
All PLT training and advice is of a practical nature.

What are the training implications?
The Zone team are available for training and consultation regarding PLT’s and this can be undertaken in a form and duration to suit individual schools or clusters.
