Joseph hits Rotherham! (posted: 12 Sep 2008)

Joseph hits Rotherham!  This stunning production, staged at The Malvin Butler Theatre in St. Anns School, was a feast of colour and music.  Involving a cast of 35 and a 40-strong choir of junior school pupils, audiences thrilled to the sound of Benjamin Calypso, shed a tear at Joseph’s rendition of Close Every Door, swung their hips in Pharoah’s Song, Elvis-style, and rose to their feet to applaud the lavish mega-mix.  Watch out for the next production – launch date 29th September!

Creative Drama (posted: 12 Sep 2008)

Drama is playing an increasing part in our schools, right across the curriculum.  Larraine Harrison has given us some great ideas and imaginary communities are cropping up everywhere!  Look our for a whole new park being designed for Percy the Park Keeper by Y2 pupils at East Dene – who knows what might happen when it’s open to the public?  The children will have to use all their skills to cope with the problems of having their own park – and lots of fun will be had along the way!

Secondary teachers go walkabout! (posted: 12 Sep 2008)

Clifton staff in the Expressive Arts department will be forming links with partner primary schools this year as part of their support to Zone schools.  This will see Y6 pupils getting to know their next teachers really early on through a range of music, dance and drama activities, all linked to the work they’re doing in the curriculum and all part of Clifton’s Specialist Performing Arts status.  What a great way to ease Y6 pupils into the big changes ahead!

WWII Project (posted: 1 Sep 2007)
The Clifton Partnership are working closely with RMBC Library Services to help pupils and the local community remember and celebrate the 60th Anniversary of the end of World War II.

Children have already met with local WWII veterans and visited exhibits across Rotherham to try and appreciate what wartime life was like. In the coming months pupils will take part in a number of other activities to celebrate, including street parties which have been organised at all Zone schools. Watch this space for more information!
